SCCCC Saturday Ride
![]() |
Scott CampbellBicycle club members lead group rides for the enjoyment and pleasure of the bicycling community. These rides are social and educational events. Experienced riders will be on hand to answer cycling related questions and instruct less experienced riders on the fundamentals of group riding, vehicular cycling and bicycle maintenance.Saturday bicycle rides (or carpools) usually start from the Capitola Community Center (Jade St/45 Ave) just off 41st Avenue in Capitola. Rides range in distance, pace and elevation, with A rides covering up to 20 miles, at 8-10 mph, with 1,000' or less of elevation. The B ride is for the intermediate rider with distances of 30-40 miles, at 12-14 mph pace, with 2000' or less of elevation and C rides may cover 40-60 miles, at a 15-20 mph pace, with 2,000' to 3,000' or more of elevation. Riders regroup during the route, so nobody is left behind. Rain cancels rides. Before the ride starts, every participant must sign a League of American Bicyclist (LAB) approved waiver stating that the Santa Cruz County Cycling Club is not responsible for any incident occurring during the ride. If you are interested in a ride or you want to lead a ride, contact Scott Campbell, the ride coordinator at 831-426-0989. Calendar of Saturday rides: Upcoming, Past> |
SCCCC Tuesday Ride

Tony Rall - Tuesday Ride CoordinatorOur ride coordinators have what seems like thankless jobs at times trying to find members to lead rides. It is fairly easy to lead a club ride. On our website, under the “Club Forms” tab is a document about how to lead a ride Ride Leader Check OffAlso on this page are the forms you will need. Then, go to the Library of Rides and just copy an existing ride (unfortunately, the "Route Map" links on that page that go to routeslip.com no longer work, but the "Route Description" links still work) or build your own. If you know of something interesting, just add it to your ride. We have visited a garden railroad, sculpture exhibits, the county fair, museums, etc. A good lunch spot is an essential part of any club ride. Most importantly have fun. As a ride leader keep in mind that we advertise our rides as follows: Tuesday rides are moderately paced social rides - always involving coffee and lunch stops. The Buttery stop, Five-Mile House coffee break and Sunset beach stopover are common highlights of Tuesday rides. Riders of all levels are welcome - no rider is left behind. Please make sure your bicycle is in good working order before arriving at the ride. |

There is lots of parking and bathrooms here with nice picnic areas as well.
It is centrally located for all, which in times of gas conservation is a bonus.

All Tuesday rides start at 10:00 AM.
It is recommended that participants arrive at 9:45 to signup and get cue sheets. Specific Tuesday routes are not announced in the Roadrunner or the club web site. However, the leader should send a message with the route to the SCCCC mailing list, scccc@santacruzcycling.org, a couple of days before the ride. (If no map or mileage is included in the route description, sometimes a volunteer will map it on the web and post a link - and perhaps an improved cue sheet - to the mailing list in response to the leader's message.)
