Rides for New and Returning Cyclists

(Beginning Cycling Classes, AKA Martha Rides)

Haven’t ridden a bike in years, but would love to start again? This is the class for you. The Santa Cruz County Cycling Club (SCCCC) is offering a series of eight Wednesday cycling classes starting Wednesday January 16, @ 10:00 a.m. The first ride starts at the Lighthouse Field Parking Lot, near the restrooms, on West Cliff Drive. These rides are open to anyone 18 or over with a working bicycle and helmet.

Starting with an eight-mile ride out to Wilder Ranch, we will work up to 25 miles with some hills. Over a period of 8 weeks, with some practice rides in between our classes, you will gradually increase your strength and endurance.

Bring water, a snack or money for a snack, and a working bicycle. Wearing a helmet is required, wearing Lycra is not. Meet us at Lighthouse Field State Park Restroom Parking Lot, We will talk safety, ride, stop for a break and return to the start For information email Janet Fogel, pookfogel@gmail.com.

Teachers for this series include Janet Fogel, Lilly Ann Popken, Richard Bedal, and other volunteers of the Santa Cruz County Cycling Club.

There is no charge for this series, just a willing spirit and a desire to ride.
